Gmail has announced the addition of fourteen more international domains to their list of supported email providers:

• hotmail.es
• hotmail.it
• hotmail.co.jp
• Kimo.com
• live.jp
• yahoo.es
• yahoo.cn
• yahoo.com.cn
• yahoo.com.hk
• yahoo.com.sg
• yahoo.com.tw
• yahoo.co.jp
• yahoo.it

This means that after signing up for Gmail, you can quickly and easily transfer contacts and messages from your old email account.

They have also created a site, gmail.com/switch, with basic information and how and why you might want to switch to Gmail.
